The best thing about this version of Sudoku is that it teaches you to make your game better. Ive played Sudoku for a few years, but have never learned more than when I use Hints and Learn from this application. My times are consistently better and my solving abilities have gotten much sharper. This version takes advantage of technology, both on the iPad and Mac, so that finding isolated numbers is easy, which gets you on your way to solving the puzzle. Want to make it more difficult? Turn the feature off! Im also a fan of filling in the pencil marks, since thats my weakest area of the game. I may have to do that when Im playing the USA Today or NY Times puzzles, but with Sukoku, I can do a fast game by having the hints populated for me. I have only a couple criticisms. First, I wish pencil marks worked on the Mac the way it does on the iPad. Clicking a checkbox is clunky compared to just hitting a dedicated row of pencil buttons. Second, do something about the home screen photo and title font. It looks very sophomoric. Lastly, with the iPad app, you can use the camera to scan in puzzles. I wish the Mac app could read a screen capture of an on-line puzzle. That would be helpful! You wont go wrong with this application, youll have hours of fun, and I guarantee youll learn more about Sukoku logic that you knew before you purchased it!

This, is absolute perfection, in a Sudoku game. No idiotic animations, cute animals or annoying graphics. Its just PURE puzzle enjoyment. The most difficulty levels, the most tutorials (for all difficulty levels) and explanations of all the arcane solution strategies for the harder puzzles. I started playing this on my iPhone, 3 years ago and I still havent run out of puzzles. I dont play that version, much, anymore, but Im SO happy its available for both OS X and iOS. I cant think of a single thing that Id want changed or added. Perfect!

This is the first computer sudoku that didnt make me run screaming for paper and pencil. I like that the pencil marks for a number disappear when the number is played. Im glad I was able to try it out with the free (Sudoku Daily) version first.

Keep it up, Jason! I love the features and play style of your sudoku games! Ive bought this for iPhone, iPad, and now Mac and I love every one! They call it "Enjoy Sudoku" for a reason. This games is so enjoyable and easy to play. The hint system is excellent. It doesnt just give you the answer but helps to teach you Sudoku patterns and techniques.

Love the game, but on occasion, the pencil mode malfunctions causing problems.

I LOVE Sudoku and I decided to download this game on my Mac. I love it!! In fact, my daughter really wasnt interested on the game in the newspaper. Now she is addicted on this game. This was a great purchase.

After doing several puzzles, the next one came up empty and wont let me proceed to a new one. I paid $2.99 for this and got to do 8-9 puzzles.

Ive wanted to try Sudoku for some time but didnt quite get it. This app is a great way to learn. Simple examples and lessons, easy starter puzzles and hints that make you think about how to solve the puzzle. Great!!!!!

The only problem is that its so addictive. And its great because you dont have to cross out all the pen marks! Great for any level player; if you start here as a beginner, youll be advanced in less than a month.

I have not used the Support offered by the publisher, but that is because there was no need to. The program runs flawlessly and provides more than enough help to solve the sudoku games it generates or those the user enters manually. The user interface is clear, simple, and natural. Almost anyone should be able to successfully play the game right out of the box. If you want a rewarding time playing Sudoku, this program is for you.

I have been enjoying this on my iPad and my Macbook Retina Pro; I updated my OS and now it is unusable on my Macbook Pro. The game numbers are shown in about 6 point font; even the pencil numbers are bigger than the game numbers. I tried uninstalling then installing again, but its clearly not working on my system. (My husband has an identical macbook pro, works fine on his but he hasnt updated to the latest version of mountain lion).

I am very happy with this game, is easy to use, has many levels of difficulty. LIke that it removes penciled in numbers when you enter large number. I have a graphics tablet that works really well with. I would recommend this.

Many difficulty levels are available, and many details of the interface can be customized. For example, you can tweak how input is accepted, how hints and pencil marks work, what audio and visual cues are provided, and when time statistics are shown. So far as I can tell, games within the same level seem to be consistently difficult from one game to the next. I also like being able to play the same game on my iPad, iPhone, and Mac. No spam or adds either. It works great for me; I’m having a lot of fun with it.

Great game. Good teaching mechanisms when you reach more difficult levels.

I’m not an expert player so I can’t evaluate it as well as someone who is. I like it except for one thing - the links that supposedly hyperlink to the explanations of how the solving techniques work are bad - link to nowhere. That was disappointing, but I found other places on the internet with these explanations, so its not so bad. For that little flaw I take off half a star. Otherwise, this is the program I’ve learned Sudoku with.

I should give this four stars, for being a major distraction from productivity. (Wink)

I suspect this is spoiling me for paper and pencil sudoku. The auto=pencil (fills in possibles) makes some situations so obvious.

I sure didn’t set it up to do that and no other app does it.As soon as the app finished downloading there is the icon of the statue with chin on hand. The game is good but the hijacking of my Apps folder outweighs the quality of the game by a ton in my opinion. Deleting - keep my $3.

This is the best Sudoku app I have found on any platform. If you are serious about improving your Sudoku skills get this app. It will teach you advanced techniques that you won’t be able to figure out yourself. Just a couple of negatives: 1) app design is very basic and reminds me of windows apps. 2) sometimes it is hard to understand the lessons - it often takes me 3-4 times before I can start using the new techniques myself.
